Arsene Wenger thinks that Alex Iwobi needs to brush up his finishing a little more. The 20-year-old broke into the Arsenal starting lineup last season and has impressed with his skills this season although he is yet to find his first goal for the Gunners.
Wenger has been using the Nigerian on the left wing as Alexis Sanchez had been pushed further upfront. He used the 20-year-old more centrally against Reading in the EFL Cup.
The Gunners academy product is in Wenger’s long-term plans and the manager wants him to improve his finishing. “You can see that he is not a typical winger.”
“I think he can play in the number 10 role. He turns the game forward, he passes the ball through the lines very well, he has a final ball in him. I think he has it all in the locker to pass and give the final ball.”
The 20-year old has seven caps for Nigerian senior team and also scored two goals in 21 appearances last season.
Wenger added: “What you want from him now is the finishing and that is still a little part that is missing in his game. He is too nervous at the moment when he has the possibility to finish.”
