Arsenal target Elseid Hysaj has signed a new contract with Napoli that will keep him at the club till 2022. The 22-year-old was heavily linked to Arsenal in the last transfer window. Arsène Wenger was very keen to bolster his defence as Hector Bellerin has been linked to various clubs and Mathieu Debuchy has made it clear that he wants to leave the Emirates. That means The Gunners only have Carl Jenkinson as a proper right back.
Hysaj was signed from Empoli for a minimal fee of £3.75m. He had a great Euro 2016 for Albania and has a contract with the Italian club till 2020.
His agent, Mario Giuffredi confirmed the development, “We’ve already signed everything and the contract has been deposited.”
“[President Aurelio] De Laurentis will decide when to Tweet it. The extension includes an option until 2022.”
The Albanian has played seven games so far for Napoli. A very versatile stopper, Hysej can play as both left and right back.
