Spurs are the only team yet to be beaten in the Premier League this season and they will look to keep up their unbeaten streak when they travel to Dean Court on Saturday to take on Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth. The Lilywhites are on the back of two straight draws. West Brom, last weekend in the Premier League, almost managed to put an end to Spurs’ unbeaten streak but Dele Alli’s late strike canceled out former Spurs midfielder Nacer Chadli’s equaliser.
Spurs traveled all the way to Germany on Tuesday to take on mighty Bayer Leverkusen at BayArena. The game ended goalless thanks to Hugo Lloris’ excellence in goal. The game promised to be an entertainer for the neutrals but in reality, it was a big letdown.
Spurs are entering the ninth gameweek sitting third on the table, just one point behind Manchester City and Arsenal. Their opponents Bournemouth will be high on motivation after their emphatic 6-1 win over Hull City last weekend. Pochettino must take the Cherries seriously as they can easily come up with a big upset.
Here is the predicted Spurs lineup against Bournemouth.
Defence
Skipper Hugo Lloris will definitely start between the sticks ahead of Michel Vorm. We expect Kyle Walker to replace Kieran Trippier in the right-back position. Toby Alderweireld is out with an injury he suffered against West Brom last week. With the Belgian ruled out, we expect Eric Dier to start at the heart of the defence alongside Jan Vertonghen.
Kevin Wimmer is an option but the Austrian, being left-footed, won’t be an ideal partner to left-footed Vertonghen. Danny Rose made his comeback from injury against Bayer Leverkusen and should keep his place in the left-back position ahead of Ben Davies.
Midfield
Victor Wanyama has done an excellent job since joining Spurs this summer and should retain his defensive midfield position. Mousa Dembele should return to the starting XI in the middle of the park. Bournemouth play a 3-man midfield and without Dembele, Spurs might find it hard to control the game. With Dembele in the starting XI, Dele Alli will be given the license to burst forward as he starts as the number ten.
Attack
Vincent Janssen got another start up front against Bayer Leverkusen and once again, the Dutchman failed to deliver. We expect the Dutch international to be dropped to the bench against Bournemouth. Heung-Min Son will spearhead the attack for the Lilywhites and will be looking for quality supply from Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela who are likely to start on the two flanks.
