Celtic will travel to Borussia Park on Tuesday 1st November to play their highly crucial Champions League encounter against Borussia Monchengladbach. Seeded in the group C along with the likes of mighty Barcelona and Manchester City, there seemed to be very little chance for either Borussia Monchengladbach or Celtic to make it to the round of 16 but Manchester City finishing in a 3-3 draw against Celtic and then losing 4-0 to Barcelona give both of them an opportunity to have a crack at the second spot.
Even if the winner of this game fail to finish second, this can very well be the decider of who make it to the Europa League from this group.
Celtic have an unassailable lead at the top of the Premiership and their 1-0 win over nearest challengers Aberdeen on Saturday suggests that the Hoops will have another easy rise to the title this season, too. Why not target a long Europa League run, then?
Celtic should be up for a battle against André Schubert’s side at Borussia Park in the midweek. They lost to the German contingent 2-0 at home and will have their eyes on a sweet revenge.
Here is the predicted Celtic lineup against Borussia Monchengladbach.
Defence
Scottish custodian Craig Gordon will keep his place under the bar ahead of Dorus de Vries who failed to take his chance to replace the Scot as the number one at the club when the opportunity came his way.
Mikael Lustig was impressive against Aberdeen on Saturday and should retain his place at right-back. The centre-back pairing of Erik Sviatchenko and Jozo Simunovic has done an excellent job of late and should retain their places.
With Kieran Tierney out on a long term, Celtic have a major headache at the left-back. Emilio Izaguirre was dismal on Saturday against Aberdeen. We expect Cristian Gamboa to get a start at left-back and cement his place there until Tierney returns from injury.
