Newcastle United, the third placed team in the Championship, will meet 7th place Brentford at the Sports Direct Arena for a crucial tie in the next round of matches as the League resumes on 15th October 2016. Rafa Benitez’s men have been impressive so far in the division and surprisingly, Brentford have also been consistent with their performances so far with Striker Scott Hogan being in a rich vein of form.
It is going to be an interesting game where both the teams will play good attacking football. Let’s look at how the Magpies are likely to set up for the game.
Newcastle (4-4-1-1)
Goalkeeper
Karl Darlow is likely to be the one guarding the goal after the goalkeeper has impressed with his performances so far this season following Rafa’s decision to drop Matz Sels.
Right Back
Vurnon Anita will be the player stationed at the right back as he will hope to give a good performance, this time, around in a game where he needs to play well.
Central Defender
Englishman Jamal Lascelles has been one of the impressive players under Benitez and the defender is pretty much set to man the barricades at the central defence once again for his team
Central Defender
New signing Ciaran Clark has been the best player for the hosts since joining the team and the former Aston Villa man would partner Lascelles at the heart of the defence once again on Saturday.
Left Back
Paul Dummett has been ever-present in the left back region for the hosts and he will be the one starting the game against Brentford.
Right Midfielder/Winger
Christian Atsu scored a wonder goal against Rotherham to win his team the game last time out. The right winger is likely to get his second start of the season against Brentford.
Central Midfielder
Former Liverpool and Swansea City man Jonjo Shelvey is the player who would occupy the central midfield spot and the team would look to him to provide the cutting age once again as he has done already this season with his 3 goals and 3 assists.
Central Midfielder
Jack Colback will be partnering Shelvey in the middle of the park as the English midfielder would try and provide the defensive cover to his back four from the middle third.
Left Midfielder/Winger
Yohan Gouffran should be the one playing on the left-hand channel as he will try and add to his tally of 2 goals in the Championship.
Attacking Midfielder/ Secondary Striker
Mohamed Diame is likely to be playing as the attacking midfielder in the game. The Senegalese attacker will be the one the hosts will look forward to providing the powerful forward runs into the opposition penalty area.
Striker/Target man
Dwight Gayle will be the striker for the home side as the Magpies top scorer would look to be the man who makes the difference up front once again.
