A couple of late goals from Michail Antonio and Manuel Lanzini were not enough for Slaven Bilic’s West Ham side to hide their embarrassing first half display on their trip to the Selhurst Park this weekend. A brace from Nacer Chadli along with goals from James McClean and Solomon Rondon gave West Brom their first victory this season leaving West Ham United with just 3 points from their first 5 games. It is a game the fans, the players and the manager would want to forget but here are the ratings each player earned from this game
Adrian (4)
One of the many players that failed to run up on the night, Adrian, was nowhere to be seen for a couple of West Brom goals and should have offered his side more resistance during the game.
Havard Nordtveit (5)
Though was not at fault directly for any goal, Nordtveit was not the most assuring player in the defence for the visitors as he was constantly under pressure from an impressive West Brom side.
James Collins (4)
Collins had one of those days when everything seems to go wrong. He was out of position for McClean’s goal and was also absent in many chances that the home side created on the night.
Angelo Ogbonna (4)
Providing not strength or discipline at the back, Ogbonna had one of his worst days in a West Ham jersey as he hardly ever dealt with the West Brom attackers in dangerous areas.
Arthur Masuaku (3)
One of the worst players on the pitch on the night, Masuaku, was all over the shop and also conceded a bizarre penalty that started the whole show for the home side.
Cheikhou Kouyaté (4)
Though he tried hard to keep the home side away from the penalty area, he was just not quick and smart enough to snuff attacks out and was at times a liability in the midfield.
Mark Noble (4)
Not his usual self in the midfield as he was over-run by a rampant West Brom side who were impressive. He was not able to provide cover for the back four or help the attack on a night to forget.
Michail Antonio (6)
Opened the scoring for West Ham on the hour mark as a just reward for his hard work and patience throughout the game. However, was not good enough on the night to get his team a point.
Manuel Lanzini (5)
Kept his cool to convert from the spot just minutes after Antonio’s goal, but that was his best contribution to West Ham’s efforts on the night.
Dimitri Payet (7)
One of the few players to come out of the game with his head held high, as he bamboozled the West Brom defence at times and also won a penalty. However his efforts were not enough to stop West Brom from taking away all three points.
Simone Zaza (3)
The new summer buy for West Ham was close to their worst player on the night as he failed to provide any kind of support up front and showed that he might take a long time to adjust to the Premier League.
Subs
Sofiane Feghouli (6)
Came into the game to replace Mark Noble just after the restart and was decent in the midfield. However, he did not do enough to get his side back into the game.
Jonathan Calleri (5)
Came in to replace Zaza after the break but was hardly effective as he still tries to get used to the Premier League.
Ashley Fletcher (5)
Came in for Masuaku with just over 10 minutes to play but was not as influential as his manager would have wanted him to be.
