Tottenham Hotspur will be involved in a top of the table clash with Manchester City on Sunday and will be high on confidence after an away win in the Champions League. They saw off CSKA Moscow in what could potentially have been a tricky fixture, with the Moscow side known to be notoriously difficult to beat at home.
Spurs were relatively slow to get off the blocks but have settled into a rhythm with players like Son and Lamela impressing especially. Mauricio Pochettino has recruited smartly and with the team having seemingly covered all the bases, another successful season is well on the cards. Spurs have already negotiated a tricky fixture against Liverpool, earning a 1-1 draw. Although City had been the superior side in the seasons prior to last, Spurs dominated the corresponding matches last season, doing the double over City. They will, therefore, be approaching the game with a degree of confidence but will be knowing the Sky Blues are vastly improved under the Catalan, Pep Guardiola.
Manchester City are on a 10-match winning streak and head to Glasgow tonight in a bid to equal their personal best of 11 wins on the trot. Thus, the mood around the Etihad is in a way similar to the White Hart Lane and the clash between the two is a mouth-watering prospect for the fans.
T4O’s PREDICTED TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR LINE-UP VS MANCHESTER CITY (4-2-3-1)
DEFENCE
Hugo Lloris is the obvious choice in goal and will have to bring his A-game on Sunday to keep out the likes of Aguero and Sterling. Kyle Walker has been phenomenal for them at right-back and his attacking forays into the opposition territory will be something which can upset City’s rhythm. Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld are fast establishing themselves as one the best defensive pairing in the League and the duo’s understanding will be key against the Sky Blues. Danny Rose is expected to be fit and he will take up his spot at left-back.
MIDFIELD
Eric Dier and Moussa Dembele were not risked against CSKA and are in line to start in the double pivot against City. Pochettino has other options in this position with Sissoko and Wanyama all battling for a starting berth. Dele Alli is likely to start in the No.10 role again.
ATTACK
The attacking personnel might see a change if the gaffer decides to deploy the in-form Son up front. This will in-turn enable Eriksen to take up a left-flank role with Eric Lamela on the opposite wing.
