Everton travel to the Stadium of Light as they look to continue their unbeaten start to the season. Much is expected of Ronald Koeman after the Dutchman made the controversial move to Everton leaving Southampton, with the Saints not taking to his departure in completely good spirits. But nevertheless, it is understandable why a club of the stature of Everton would appeal to him and with the promised funds and creative freedom, the club hierarchy will hope they finally have the able successor of David Moyes, whom they incidentally face on Monday. Although on paper, Everton look a stronger outfit, they will very well know the difficulty they will be facing when David Moyes’s boys set up shop.
Recent history favours Sunderland after the Wearsiders have lost only one out of the last 7 home league games winning 2 and drawing 4 of them. Even though they have had contrasting starts to the season it is expected to be a tight affair on Monday. Moyes will be knowing most of the players in the opposition thoroughly enough and having got a considerable time with his troops, will be better placed to impart his way of playing as we saw in the last match where they drew with Southampton. Another draw might well be on the cards though Moyes would dearly love to bag his first 3 points finally.
PREDICTED EVERTON LINE-UP VS SUNDERLAND (4-2-3-1)
DEFENCE
Marten Stekelenburg is expected to start in goal and will look to continue his impressive performances between the sticks. Seamus Coleman has been declared fit and is in line to make his comeback at right-back. The centre-back pairing will be Ashley Williams and Phil Jagielka, two experienced campaigners who will be looking to form an impressive partnership over the course of the season. Baines will be at left-back.
MIDFIELD
Idrissa Gueye will carry on his quest to emulate N’Golo Kante’s performance from last season and has got off to a good start to the season. He will be partnered by former Manchester City man Gareth Barry. In the No.10 role, we will likely see Ross Barkley as he looks to get back into reckoning in England once again.
ATTACK
Kevin Mirallas will hope to keep his place on the left flank while new signing Yannick Bolasie will provide unpredictability and lots of flair on the right-flank. Both of them will look to improve their end products this season. Romelu Lukaku will lead the line and will be hoping for a more consistent season.
