Pep Guardiola’s dream of bringing Lionel Messi to Manchester City could turn realistic. Reports suggest that Manchester City had three meetings with the agents of Neymar and Messi.
Messi has two years left on his contract and has a €250m release clause. Manchester City had earlier tried to persuade Neymar to Etihad but the Brazilian had recently signed a five-year contract. Guardiola is a long-term admirer of Lionel Messi from his Barcelona days.
City owner Sheikh Mansour has spent almost €1 billion and has the funds to sign the Argentine forward. Messi has earlier been linked to Chelsea. City have started the season in thumping fashion winning all the matches they have played so far.
Pep has signed Leroy Sane, Nolito, John Stones and Ilkay Gundogan in what was an active summer window for the club. Guardiola has earlier said that he wants Messi to play the rest of his career at Nou Camp and if he somehow manages to bring the forward to Etihad, it could be a massive boost to their image and strengthen the team further.
