Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly interested in midfielder Danny Drinkwater. Drinkwater came through United’s academy but has never made a first team appearance.
Mourinho has spent almost £150million to bring Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Paul Pogba and Eric Bailly. The Portuguese is planning to make a bid of £30m for the ace midfielder. Drinkwater won the Premier League last season with Leicester City after having joined the Foxes in 2012 from Man United. It won’t be easy for United in trying to entice him as the Englishman has recently signed a five year contract worth £90,000 a week.
Mourinho was not happy with his team’s midfield and has tried various combinations. He even deployed Pogba just behind the striker but it didn’t work out.
Drinkwater joined The Red Devils at the age of nine and since then had been loaned to Huddersfield, Barnsley, Cardiff City and Watford. If Leicester manages to qualify for the Champions League it would be very tough for Mourinho to lure the midfielder to The Old Trafford.
