Manchester United could sell their star striker Wayne Rooney and want Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale to replace him, according to recent reports. Rooney is currently earning a whopping £300,000 a week and has 2 years left on his contract. He has recently expressed his interest to finish his career at United. Gareth Bale is right now at the peak of his career after moving to Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur.
Rooney was signed by then manager Sir Alex Ferguson from Everton for around £25 million in 2004. Rooney has netted 179 goals in 372 appearances for the club.
If rumours are to be believed the veteran striker is also attracting interest from Chinese clubs. Rooney recently became England’s most capped players surpassing David Beckham when he captained the side against Slovakia in a World Cup Qualifier match.
Rooney’s form isn’t what it was a few years ago and the fans have often called for his head. Despite enduring bad patches of form, he somehow makes the team due to his past reputation.
