What Leicester City achieved last season was pure hard work, dedication and passion for the game but fairy tales happen probably once in a lifetime. The Premier League holders were brought back to earth after a torrid start to the new season. They have managed to clinch one solitary win out of their five competitive fixtures this season. First, a loss to Manchester United and then just one win in four Premier League games, things are not looking good for Claudio Ranieri and the 4-1 hammering by Liverpool last weekend made things even worse.
With the kind of the start Leicester City have had to their season, we can expect the Foxes to do everything in their power to bolster their squad in the January transfer window. As claimed by The Guardian, the Premier League holders have identified Czech Republic youngster Jakub Jankto as the player who could improve their first team. Fellow Premier League side Bournemouth are also interested in the 20-year-old but the Foxes are hoping to beat the Cherries for the youngster’s signature.
Very highly rated
The Czech Republic under-21 international is a very highly rated player and The Guardian claims that the youngster was extensively scouted by Premier League giants Arsenal last season. Even though the Gunners’ interest did not materialise to an official bid but when a player alerts one of the best scouting networks in Europe, we can easily anticipate his quality.
Versatility
Versatility is a very rare but one of the most useful traits of a world-class player but it is something that develops with more and more experience and playing time. Young players blessed with an amazing versatility is very rare but Jankto is such a rare and gifted player. The Czech Republic starlet is predominantly a central midfielder who likes to burst forward with real intent and has good work rate. However, he is equally capable of playing on the flanks, mostly on the left and had been used as a left winger during his loan spell with Ascoli last term. A versatile young player like him can prove to be a real asset to Ranieri.
Direct and creative
Leicester City are one of the most direct and front-footed teams in the Premier League and Jankto fits in the team perfectly. The youngster likes to take defenders on but he is not selfish and knows when to release the ball. With Drinkwater, Mendy and Amartey more of defence-minded midfielders, Jankto can make a big difference to the Foxes. Last season, the youngster scored five and created nine for his teammates during his loan spell with Ascoli in Serie B. His football knowledge was mostly in Italy and he can learn a lot more at Leicester City under an experienced gaffer like Ranieri.
