T4O picks the best 11 from game week 6 that saw plenty of goals, and plenty of gallivanting go-getters.
Goalkeeper
Artur Boruc
Team: Bournemouth
Result: Bournemouth 1 – Everton 0
While Kidbrooke, London-born, Junior Stanislas clipped the wings of the high-flying Everton, it was Siedlce, Poland-born Artur Boruc that took away the safety net and spread the quick drying cement. The former Celtic cult hero’s sharp reflexes denied Romelu Lukaku and co. on numerous occasions.
Left-back
James Milner
Team: Liverpool
Result: Liverpool 5 – Hull City 1
Not sure if it’s James Milner or Silvio Marzolini.
Either way, the unfancied English-man has the same nerves-of-steel that the Argentinian legend displayed in his pomp, to slot in two penalties home, and while his dedication to the cause was never in question, his quality and willingness at left-back is winning even the staunchest fans over.
Right-back
Hector Bellerin
Team: Arsenal
Result: Arsenal 3 – Chelsea 0
This wasn’t the Hector Bellerin that we have been seeing this season. Could be forgiven to be perturbed from all the interest from Barcelona, but instead, got his head down and put in a buccaneering performance vs bogey side Chelsea.
Centre-backs
Ben Gibson
Team: Boro
Result: Boro 1 – Spurs 2
You can’t always expect to be on the winning side despite being one of the best players on the pitch. The centre-back, Ben Gibson, despite conceding 2 goals to Tottenham, put in a lion-hearted performance.
Virgil van Dijk
Team: Southampton
Result: West Ham 0 – Southampton 3
West Ham scored all of their fives goals this season through headers, and it was natural that they’d follow the same lead. Virgil of Southampton played the lord commander of Puel’s raiders, and helped deflect all the attention.
Midfielders
Mesut Ozil
Team: Arsenal
Result: Arsenal 3 – Chelsea 0
Turned on the style for Wenger’s 20th year anniversary at Arsenal, his tricks and flicks, particularly one flik-flak near the touchline made a few Chelsea fans go for a cold, hard drink at the local pub.
Phil Coutinho
Team: Liverpool
Result: Liverpool 5 – Hull City 1
When he hits the ball, it stays hit. Was the creative force to Liverpool rattling the Tigers in the cage they put Mike Phelan’s side in.
Adam Lallana
Team: Liverpool
Result: Liverpool 5 – Hull City 1
Half-man, half-machine, Adam Lallana put in a masterclass midfield performance just like he did vs Chelsea, but this time, a goal and two assists for his running.
Juan Manuel Mata
Team: Manchester United
Result: Man United 4 – Leicester City 1
Benching Wayne Rooney did wonders for Manchester United this weekend vs the defending Champions, none more so than to the confidence of Juan Manuel Mata. He was the puppet master in the midfield, scoring and assisting one each.
Forwards
Sergio Aguero
Team: Manchester City
Result: Swansea 1 – Man City 3
How do you stop an inform Sergio Aguero? At Christmas parties, perhaps, where his ex father-in-law, Diego Maradona hoards on all the meat. 2 goals for the Fantasy Premier League star vs a stubborn Swansea side, makes him walk into our list.
Jermain Defoe
Team: Sunderland
Result: Sunderland 2 – Crystal Palace 3
Despite losing, Jermaine would know he did all he could, scoring 2 vs Palace. It would be remiss of us to drop him on the back of that effort.
MANAGER- Arsene Wenger
