Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has revealed that their team was shocked by the attacking football of Liverpool. Liverpool defeated Chelsea 2-1 at Stamford Bridge. Dejan Lovren and Jordan Henderson were on target for The Reds while Diego Costa reduced the deficit for the Home side.
Chelsea came into the game following a 2-2 draw with Swansea while Liverpool thrashed defending champions Leicester City 4-1 in the previous game.
‘We didn’t start well. First half we didn’t have the duels, we didn’t have the second ball, everything was for them,’ said the lanky goalkeeper.
Dejan Lovren took advantage of some sloppy defending and scored from a Philippe Coutinho cross. Henderson, on the other hand, scored a screamer as Gary Cahill failed to clear the ball properly.
“They pressured us and we couldn’t cope with it. It was very hard and we gave two goals away.”
Liverpool dominated the game from the first but Chelsea pressed hard after the break. The reds secured their second successive win of the season while The Blues managed only one from two outings.
“The second half was a bit better, we scored and had some pressure but I don’t think we had a big chance.”
“The first goal was a set-piece that they took quick, everybody ran to the first ball and they ran to the second ball, put a good cross in and it was a good goal.”
“Everyone was a bit shocked, we didn’t start well and then they scored the second when we didn’t defend well,” Courtois added.
