Chelsea squandered a chance to join Manchester City at the top of the table as they fumbled on the road at the Liberty Stadium against a Swansea side who would consider themselves a tad lucky. But they created their own luck as they came back from a goal down to leading Chelsea at one point. But a second goal from Man of the Match Diego Costa ensured that the teams shared the spoils at the end.
PLAYER RATINGS
T. COURTOIS- 5/10
Did not have to do a great deal but made one of the two costly errors of the day as he brought down Sigurdsson in the area to concede a penalty.
B. IVANOVIC- 6.5/10
Was impressive going forward. It was from his initial shot that Costa equalised after the ball fell in his path. But was once more exposed by pace at the back.
G. CAHILL- 6/10
Was comfortable throughout as he dealt with the Swansea attackers well enough but a casual moment in possession saw him feebly lose the ball to Leroy Fer who then scrambled the ball home to give the Swans the lead.
J. TERRY- 7/10
Dealt well with the threat of Llorente throughout the match and was at the right place at the right time. A factor in both the boxes today.
C. AZPILICUETA- 7/10
Was solid at the back and always a source of outlet in advanced areas.
N.G. KANTE- 7.5/10
Hustled and harried he Swansea advanced players and the midfielders. Did not allow them to conjure anything of note from the midfield. But he has performed better than this in a Chelsea shirt.
OSCAR- 6/10
Provided the assist for Diego Costa’s first goal but was wasteful in front of goal himself. Could have won the game for his team.
N. MATIC- 6/10
Still looks a shadow of the player from a season ago. Not creative enough with the ball and was at a loss while dealing with renewed Swansea pressure after the break.
EDEN HAZARD- 6.5/10
Not his best day this season. Was unusually sloppy in possession and gave away the ball multiple number of times. But like always looked a threat whenever near the box.
D. COSTA- 8.5/10
A typical hassling and hurrying but ultimately effective display from the Spaniard. He was in the face of the defenders throughout and like many times before this season, was on hand to rescue points for Chelsea.
SUBSTITUTES
MOSES- 6/10
Did not have the desired attacking impact that he would have hoped instead skying a shot into the stands when in a good position.
C.FABREGAS- 6/10
Could not control the tempo which he was brought on to do.
BATSHUAYI- 5/10
Hardly had a touch of the ball in the few minutes he was on the pitch
