Chelsea are reportedly eyeing Tottenham defender Den Davies in a bid to strengthen their defence. The 23-year-old left back has a price tag of £20million but that’s something which won’t stand in their way. Davies can also play as a left defender in a three man defence and played an important role in Wales’s incredible EURO 2016 campaign where they lost in the Semi final.
John Terry, who is all set to hang up his boots after this season and Antonio Conte wants Davies to replace him. Conte prefers a 3man defence formation and Davies perfectly suits the bill although they had recently signed Marcos Alonso. Premier League rules stated that there have to be eight home grown players in the squad and Davies can complement that as he is a homegrown player.
Davies has played mostly second choice to Danny Rose and was included in the starting eleven last week. The Welshman has made 39 appearances for Spurs since joining them last season.
Chelsea are also interested in Middlesbrough’s Ben Gibson and Burnley’s Michael Keane who is all set to sign a new contract with the club to raise the number of their home grown players.
