Manchester United are reportedly ready to offer a new contract to midfielder Juan Mata. The attacking midfielder has started the season impressively and manager Jose Mourinho is very keen to keep the midfielder at The Old Trafford.
The 28-year-old is currently on a £130,000-a-week deal and has two years left on his contract. The Spaniard was signed by United from Chelsea when Mourinho was at the helm of the Blues. There was much speculation over his future after United appointed the Portuguese as their manager but the midfielder seems to have settled down under the guidance of him.
Mata scored a goal in United’s 4-1 thumping of defending Champions Leicester City. He replaced Wayne Rooney in the match and played in his favourite no 10 position. Mourinho was reportedly unhappy with the attacking midfielder and sold him to United whilst at Chelsea a couple of years ago but the Spaniard has shone for the Red Devils so far.
Another United youngster Jesse Lingard has also reportedly agreed to a new four-year contract worth £50,000 per week. Lingard scored the winner in the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace.
