Arsenal is considering to sell Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain but the midfielder wants to stay and fight to be in the first team. Chamberlain was signed from Southampton 5 years ago for £12million and only started four games this season.
Arsene Wenger is very reluctant to give him a contract extension. The attacker hasn’t developed into the player Arsene Wenger hoped he would after a glut of injuries since joining the North Londoners. Arsenal’s current priority is to renew the contracts of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.
Wenger believes that the player has not improved since he joined from Southampton. Wenger preferred Chamberlain in the central midfield role but he has played fewer games there and the presence of better players means he has less of a chance in getting that role.
Jack Wilshere faced the similar situation and has gone on loan to Bournemouth to rediscover his form. Chamberlain was substituted in Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Paris Saint Germain. He was also taken off after 63 minutes against Southampton. It would be very surprising if Arsenal offer him a new contract .
