Lionel Messi could be out for three weeks after suffering a groin injury in a 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid. Rakitic headed in from a Andres Iniesta cross while Angel Correa reduced the deficit for Atleti.
Messi will miss two away games in La Liga including Sporting Gijon and Celta Vigo. Messi will also miss when Barcelona travel to Monchengladbach to play Champions League Group stage on 29th September. Messi was seen limping off the ground in the 58th minutes and was replaced by Arda Turan. Atletico took the advantage and equalised through Angel Correa. Messi is also expected to miss Argentina’s two World Cup qualifiers against Peru and Paraguay
Messi had earlier injured his ligament last season and missed a brief period for The Catalans. Barcelona confirmed that Messi tore a muscle in the groin and could be out for three weeks. This means Messi is expected to be fit before the much anticipated clash against Manchester City at the Nou Camp. Midfielder Sergio Busquets also had to be substituted due to an injury.
