Mesut Ozil has put forward a number of requests before signing a new deal for Arsenal. The playmaker was signed for a record £42.5 m from Real Madrid in 2013.
It was earlier reported that the German midfielder who had 19 assists last season for the Gunners could be signing a new contract worth £200,000 a week. The midfielder reportedly wanted a couple of assurances before signing a contract extension. Firstly, he wants the No.10 jersey which was previously worn by Jack Wilshere before his loan move to Bournemouth. Secondly, he wants the club to make more signings to be even more competitive. Arsenal signed Lucas Perez, Granit Xhaka and Shkodran Mustafi in the last transfer window.
Ozil has been instrumental for Arsenal in the last couple of seasons and is an integral part of the team. His current contract runs till 2018. But what if Arsenal fail to listen to his demands?
Real Madrid could be an option for the 28-year-old. If rumours are to be believed, Ozil is still dreaming of a return to the Santiago Bernabeu. Ozil spent 3 years with the La Liga club before moving to England. In the current scheme of things, it is very unlikely for him to make a return, but you never know in football. It might just happen.
