Slaven Bilić has done a tremendous job with the London outfit West Ham as he helped them to a 7th placed finish in the Premier League last season. He has accumulated a squad with some exciting players and with greater things to come in the future, he is ready to let go of players who are not in his plans for the next season. One such player who is sure to leave the club this summer is striker Diafra Sakho. The Senegalese international was set for a move to West Bromwich Albion who were ready to splash a club record £16m for their man. However, the move collapsed in the final stages after it was revealed that Sakho will not be fit for the start of the season. This has seen West Brom look at other options already having opted out of the deal. However, Sakho is still excess to requirements for the Hammers and is expected to leave this summer.
This has seen an age-old rumour that never seems to die, resurface, with Sunderland, another Premier League outfit, reportedly keen on his signature. David Moyes, the new boss at the Stadium of light, is looking for some additions to his squad this summer and is hoping to steer them away from a relegation battle early in the season. He is expected to bring in some renowned players to add to the squad at the club and is now linked with 26-year old West Ham starlet.
Having played 22 games in all competitions for West Ham in the previous season, Sakho managed to score 5 goals and picked up an assist for his troubles. He was used mainly as a striker but also played in different positions on the pitch when needed, with the right forward’s place the most productive one. He is a player with lethal finishing ability while his dribbling is also a big asset for his side. He is disciplined enough in defense for a player at his position and will also allow Sunderland to build a squad that is hard to beat. He has so far played in a couple of seasons in the Premier League and has gathered enough experience to help David Moyes in his troubles at Sunderland next season.
He may not be the man who will provide Sunderland with goals galore (though he is capable enough of doing it) but he will surely give his all in every game and will lift the spirits of the whole team with his performances on the field. He is currently unfit to start the new season but will be available soon enough and if David Moyes wants to plan for the long term, Sakho is more than a decent candidate. He will add that extra fire-power to the squad that can help them beat opponents around them in the points table and if he can get enough game time, the 26-year old can turn out to be a huge hit at the Stadium of Light. Do you think Moyes should move for Sakho this summer?
