The wait is finally over! It seems like ages ago when Spurs struck a deal with Ligue 1 giants Olympique de Marseille for the signing of winger Georges-Kevin N’Koudou. The 21-year-old travelled to London for a medical last month and had been training with Spurs for past week while talks continued over the takeover of the French side. On the transfer deadline day, Spurs have finally announced the deal via their official Twitter account.
N’Koudou will wear the number 14 shirt for the Lilywhites and his arrival has triggered Clinton N’Jie’s move in the opposite direction. The signing of the 21-year-old gives Spurs a whole new dimension in the attack, something they evidently lacked so far this season. The Frenchman adds much-needed diversity to the attack with his quick feet and exceptional dribbling skills.
A raw talent with blistering pace
Spurs have it all in their team but still something was missing. With proven goalscorers in Kane and Janssen, a brilliant creative department with players like Eriksen, Lamela and Alli, Spurs still were struggling to create opportunities so far this season, let alone goalscoring chances. The pace of the French youngster is a massive addition the club’s attacking ranks.
The French under-21 international has a blistering pace in his locker. Predominantly right-footed, his best position in on the left flank from where he can drift inside and tear apart defences. However, the youngster can also do a decent job if deployed on the right flank. The 21-year-old has brilliant skills and a sweet ball control and it is hard to knock him off the ball.
N’Koudou has a low centre of gravity and therefore his balance on the ball is exceptional. The 21-year-old can be a big threat on the counter. In his early days at White Hart Lane, he might have to settle for a place on the bench but he has what it takes to change the outcome of a game when called upon by the manager.
A product on Ligue 1 side Nantes’ youth academy, the prodigy made his move to Marseille last summer and proved his worth with 10 goals and 5 assists from 41 games. Under a manager like Pochettino who is a brilliant guide for young players, N’Koudou can be a real hit at North London.
