With Garry Monk in charge, the Leeds United fans must have believed that their fortunes will finally change but the start Monk had at Elland Road does not look promising at all. After achieving only one win in his first three games and that also coming in a Cup tie at Fleetwood Town, Garry Monk needs a positive result tomorrow when Leeds host high-flying Fulham at Elland Road. Slavisa Jokanovic’s side are on a roll right now with three wins on the bounce, two in Championship and one in League Cup.
Garry Monk definitely had a dismal start to his Leeds job but you have to offer a new manager some time to understand his squad and identify the best starting XI. The Cottagers are an in-form team right now and a really tough opponent, which makes this game the perfect opportunity for Garry Monk to rewrite his early wrongs. Leeds and Fulham played to 1-1 draws in both games of the Championship last season. Fulham will head into the game as strong favourites but this could potentially be the game when Monk finally showcases his true calibre.
Here is the predicted Leeds United lineup V Fulham
Defence
Veteran Robert Green is likely to start ahead of Marco Silvestri between the sticks. Gaetano Berardi set to miss out for Leeds with a hamstring injury. New signing Luke Ayling had a debut game against Birmingham and he will keen to impress once again. Skipper Sol Bamba struggled for the 3rd game in a row when facing Birmingham and Monk should replace the Ivorian with Liam Cooper.
Kyle Bartley should continue at the heart of the defence. Charlie Taylor has looked out of touch so far this season probably due to the speculations surrounding him. His heart does not belong to Leeds anymore and it’s clearly visible. However, Leeds do not have a backup for the 22-year-old which means he has to continue in the left-back position.
Midfield
Alex Mowatt and Tounami Diagouraga should start as the two central midfielders. Hadi Sacko had a brilliant game against Birmingham making his presence felt time and time again and also scoring the Leeds goal. However, the Frenchman is likely to start the game as one of the centre forwards which means Kemar Roofe will start on the right flank. On the left flank, it should be Stuart Dallas.
Attack
Chris Wood has looked lost and isolated on the field each game and it’s time to bench him. Sacko should start in his place alongside Swedish forward Marcus Antonsson.
