Leicester City are pursuing Steven N’Zonzi of Sevilla at the moment and has reportedly put in a bid of £20m for the player. Sevilla however, value him at a price much higher than that and McCarthy’s availability can change the course of the deal as a result. The current champions have previously expressed strong interest in the player but it was not clear that the midfielder would be looking for a move away from Goodison at that time. At the moment, the Foxes will have a decision to make with the Everton midfielder being available at a price they are comfortable with.
With their European fixtures, Leicester City would need some much needed strength in squad and quality in their rank., After the departure of Kanté they have signed Mendy from Ligue 1 but there’s always a need for securing a cover for the central midfield positions as the players in that position tend to take the maximum workload and needs to be managed accordingly.
With his ability of passing and interceptions, McCarthy can settle in very nicely in the Leicester midfield and will provide the opportunity for Ranieri to rest and rotate the players of that position as a result. It remains to be seen whether the midfielder would be willing to sign for the club where he would undoubtedly get his time on the pitch but it won’t be very consistent, if Ranieri can convince the Irishman to come to King Power then it would certainly be an excellent addition for the side, one which will provide much quality and depth and help them negotiate their lengthy fixture list.
