The Premier League this summer has been relentless in snapping up top quality players in Europe. The net spent of all the clubs in England’s top-tier football league has already crossed the £700m mark and we still have more than couple of weeks to go for the end of the transfer window. Most of the clubs around the country have spent big this summer, more so with the new TV deal and this has seen some world class players move to the Premier League this summer. However, with a while still to go for the window to close, there are a number of players who might still be making a move away from their clubs this month. With less than a week left for the Premier League to start, let’s take a look at 5 players who will surely be leaving their club this summer.
Christian Benteke (Liverpool)
The Belgian moved to Liverpool under the previous manager and has not been able to impress Jürgen Klopp, the current manager at Anfield. He made a move for £32.5m from Aston Villa last summer and is expected to be sold for the first team that is ready to meet the same price.
Klopp has revealed that he has no place in his plans next season and this has seen various clubs from the Premier League make a move for the 24-year old. Crystal Palace are reportedly holding talks with the forward and are expected to make a bid in the coming days. Benteke will surely not be a Liverpool player come the end of the transfer window.
Samir Nasri (Manchester City)
The Frenchman has had a troubled career at Manchester City, mainly due to the injuries he has suffered. With Pep Guardiola spending big money on the likes of Nolito and Leroy Sane, you’d imagine that Nasri is likely to leave in the search of first team football. Nasri is still 29 and has a couple of years left in him at least. Recent reports indicate that City will let him leave if they good offers for him.
Bastian Schweinsteiger (Manchester United)
The German midfield legend, Bastian Schweinsteiger moved to Manchester United just last summer but failed to have any kind of an impact on the club and the Premier League. Though his injury troubles hampered his progression, Jose Mourinho, the new manager at Old Trafford has deemed him to be excess to requirements and has asked him to search for suitable clubs. It is reported that he is currently training with the youth squad and has been linked with a move to Juventus and Besiktas among other clubs. He has no real chance of game time at United next season and is expected to end his term at the club this summer.
Mario Balotelli (Liverpool)
The Italian maverick made a much-criticized move back to the Premier League when he joined Liverpool a couple of years ago. However, he was not able to find any kind of form and was loaned back to AC Milan for the previous season. He failed to impress enough in Italy to warrant a permanent transfer and is currently out-of-favor at Liverpool with Klopp revealing that he has no place in his squad.
Many clubs have stayed away due to his potential wages and more so cause of his attitude on the field but it is now revealed that Italian outfit Chievo Verona are ready to take him back to Italy and have already had talks with the player’s agent. It will be interesting to see if Balotelli fits at Verona cause he definitely doesn’t fit into Klopp’ squad at Anfield.
Nemanja Matic (Chelsea)
Chelsea have secured the services of N’Golo Kanté, a Premier League title winner, early in the summer transfer window. The new manager at the Bridge, Antonio Conte wants to build his team around the midfield powerhouse and is expected to use Cesc Fabregas, the creative Spaniard alongside Kanté in a midfield duo. The likes of Nemanja Matic and John Obi-Mikel will not have much game time next season, especially with Chelsea out of Europe, and this has seen Juventus make a move for the Serbian Nemanja Matic.
Juventus have lost Paul Pogba to Manchester United but have pocketed a hefty sum that will be spent on squad reconstruction and it is understood that Matic is of their top transfer targets. Chelsea may need depth in their squad for contingencies next season but without the promise of regular football, Matic may well be on his way out of the club this summer.
