The Chelsea players will go into the International break with a spring in their steps after they finally performed as a team and clocked up their first convincing 3 points of the season. Eden Hazard opened the scoring after a fine run and a cool finish within 8 minutes which hinted at things to come. Following the opening goal, Chelsea settled in comfortably and it was a one-way traffic all along as Willian doubled the lead after unleashing a ferocious shot between the legs of a defender and into the corner. Thereon in it was a Chelsea passing and attack fest. With the score at 2-0, Conte got a chance to send on 3 substitutes who would have been looking to play without the pressure of a deficit for the first time this season. The score-line got a more realistic look after Moses slid in to meet Pedro’s cross to make it 3-0.
Here are 3 things we learnt from Chelsea’s 3-0 win against Burnley.
EDEN HAZARD IS BACK
He has been looking ominous in all the matches so far but it was particularly today that he was fully able to express himself. Though the Belgian will be disappointed at not having had a couple of more goals, his return to form bodes extremely well for Chelsea. After strong criticism last season, the player will be more determined to prove a point or two to his detractors.
BURNLEY WILL HAVE TO PRIORITISE
Burnley’s win against Liverpool got the pundits off their seats but many were hesitant to accept it as a start of something special. While the win was certainly historic, the overall look of the team suggests it was more of a one-off occurrence. With the match against Chelsea thoroughly looking like a clear case of Men vs Boys, it is evident Burnley need to aim for points against the teams at the lower end of the table. Dropping points in those crucial fixtures will be more significant than a one-off win against Liverpool, at least in their quest for survival.
N’GOLO KANTE EN ROUTE TO BEING THE BEST MIDFIELDER IN SUCCESSIVE SEASONS
Amongst a host of clubs interested in Leicester City’s powerhouse midfield enforcer, Chelsea were probably the most interested. Lacking in any sort of energy or intensity last season, Kante was a ready-made solution to most of their woes in midfield. He has fit in seamlessly and going by the latest displays, will be one of the most important factors for the Blues if they are to challenge for the title. And after his performance today, he certainly does not look like a one-season wonder!
