Once PFA Young Player of the Year and in the running for the prestigious European Golden Boy award, Jack Wilshere has never been able to reach the heights that was expected of him. Aged 24 now, the English international still remains a big prospect when he was supposed to be one of the best midfielders in the Premier League if not the world. An Arsene Wenger favourite, Wilshere still looks very much down in the pecking order at the Emirates and quite expectedly has alarmed interest from other clubs.
The Mirror claims that Arsenal are willing to let the flamboyant midfielder move on a season-loan in order to get back his fitness and reach his prime. Still a player central to Wenger’s plans for the future, Wilshere can definitely benefit big time from a loan spell where he can get regular game time and The Mirror claims that Crystal Palace are looking to utilise the situation. Wanted by European giants like Roma and Valencia, Palace striking a deal will be tough but Pardew has reasons to be optimistic about this move. Here are three reasons why Wilshere moving to Selhurst Park on a loan makes sense-
Regular playing time
Wilshere definitely possesses the quality of playing on a regular basis at a club like Crystal Palace. Apart from Yohan Cabaye, none of the Palace midfielders comes even close to Wilshere’s abilities in midfield. The lad even scored Premier League Goal of the Season for two straight seasons! At Selhurst Park, Wilshere can ideally get his career back on track by playing on a weekly basis in the middle of the park.
Staying in the Premier League
Roma and Valencia both are much bigger in stature when compared to Crystal Palace but would add extra pressure to Wilshere of adapting in a new league. Spain and Italy both are much different in terms of both conditions and footballing style to the Premier League. Wilshere should opt for staying in England if he hopes to rescue his Arsenal career. The Gunners showed plenty of faith and patience in the 24-year-old over the years when he had his struggles with consecutive injuries and Wilshere should repay the North London side. For that, Crystal Palace, a London club just like Arsenal, are the most suitable club for the midfielder.
Pardew’s system is ideal for Wilshere
Wilshere is a creative midfielder with excellent technique and dribbling skills. Crystal Palace play more of a direct and counter-attacking game which will suit the midfielder rightly. The 24-year-old can feature as a number eight or a number ten. We have seen Pardew trying Jason Puncheon in the middle of the park but that did not really turn out to be a success. Wilshere is ideal for the role that Pardew was trying to assign Puncheon. With Wilshere and Cabaye in midfield, Crystal Palace will have a highly creative midfield and with players like Benteke and Remy up front, the Eagles can improve big time as a unit.
