Jose Mourinho has already made a lot of difference at Old Trafford with Manchester United now looking like the team to beat this summer. The manager has added a number of players to his squad and has managed to steal two wins in his first two games including his first ever victory at Old Trafford as the manager of the Red Devils. There are talks that he may still look into the transfer window for some additions but with just over a week left for the deadline day this summer, the manager will look to get deals done quickly and this will include letting players who are not in his plans leave the club this summer. Here are three such players who will have a very nervous week ahead of the deadline day.
Bastian Schweinsteiger
The experienced German international moved to Manchester United from Bayern Munich last summer under Louis van Gaal and was hit by a number of injuries throughout the previous season. He has not found the back of the net yet in his stint in England and has also not provided an assist in the league so far. This has seen him fall out of favor at the club under the new manager Jose Mourinho who has asked him to train with the juniors and look for potential clubs to make a move.
Bayern Munich, his former club is not interested in his signature and this has left him without potential clubs to make a move. He has been linked with the Milan clubs from Italy and Sunderland more recently and it is believed that he will make a move this summer. It will be interesting to see who will grab him up come the end of the transfer window.
Timothy Fosu-Mensah
The young Dutch international moved to Manchester United just this year and has already made 8 senior team appearances in various competitions. However, he has not really got a chance to prove himself under Jose Mourinho and though he is included in the squad for games, he is expected to make the move this summer. Mourinho is reportedly interested in the 18-year old’s potential and though he may not have a place in the first team for him this season, he wants him to be a part of the club and wants him to leave on loan before the end of the transfer window.
He is regarded as a backup for Valencia in the right-back position but Mourinho wants him to get enough game time under his belt in his early playing years and may send him off on loan in the coming days with a number of Championship clubs and also a few Premier League ones interested in his signature.
Matteo Darmian
The exciting full-back who had a decent season for Manchester United after making the move last summer has fallen completely out of favour with Jose Mourinho, the new man at Old Trafford. The Italian made 28 appearances for the side in all competitions last season but has now been left out of the squad by Mourinho who is happy to let him leave already. He is linked with a host of clubs including AS Roma and Napoli and it is understood that Mourinho is ready to off-load him to the highest bidder.
Though United do not have too much of depth in their squad, Mourinho is not really looking at the 26-year old as a long term option and is happy for him to leave this summer. The likes of Antonio Valencia and Luke Shaw are currently in the squad patrolling the full back position leaving Darmian with no place it the team so a move away from Old Trafford might be the best thing for him at his age.
