Leicester City, the Champions of England, have made some crude signing this summer to help them build on their achievements from the previous season. Though N’Golo Kanté, the heartbeat of the side last season has left to join Chelsea, the manager is confident of keeping hold of all the players who helped him achieve the unthinkable just a few months ago.
However, the manager will have to find some quality in the transfer window to improve the squad but their financial status and reputation will not help them make a move for big-name stars in Europe. That has not stopped papers linking the Foxes with a number of players in Europe and once such star who is attracting interest from a lot of places is Torino full-back, Bruno Peres.
The 26-year old Brazilian national was one of the most impressive defenders in the previous season in Italy. He joined the Serie A outfit from Santos, a Brazilian domestic team, back in 2014 and has ever since been impressing player, managers and pundits alike with his performances. He is a confident player who loves to take on his man on the wing but is a disciplined defender who sticks to his job and keeps it simple.
He is a no-nonsense defender who loves to keep his box away from danger but is also equally adept at hurting the opponents in the final third. He played 65 games for Torino so far in his career and has scored 6 goals assisting 4 more making him one of the most fruitful defenders in Italy. He is a player who is comfortable with the ball at his feet and is not fazed by the occasion. He is cool and calm under pressure making him a quality player in his position.
In the previous season, Peres completed more dribbles (83) than any other defender in any of Europe’s top five leagues as he stamped his authority as one of the best right-backs in Europe at the moment. So it is natural to see the winners and the runners-up of the Premier League linked with a move for the 26-year old this summer.
Arsenal, who want a back-up for Spaniard Hector Bellerin, who has been sensational since his move to England, were reportedly rejected in their first move for Peres. The Italian club felt that the first offer for the 26-year old was too low and that has now seen the English Champions in Leicester City move for his signature. Claudio Ranieri needs to add some players to his squad this summer with European football looming high next season. They will need all the depth they need and are hoping to snatch Peres by offering him regular football for the next season.
The defender and his club have already accepted that they will part ways in coming days after his performances last season and if Leicester City can lure Peres to the King Power this summer, it may well be one of the transfers of the summer. Do you think Bruno Peres would be a good addition at Leicester City?
