Rangers are hoping to make a swoop for Dundee midfielder Glen Kamara this summer. According to recent reports, the Gers are keeping tabs on the Finland international ahead of a potential move in the summer. The Scottish Premiership midfielder has put in some outstanding displays for Dundee after sealing a move from Arsenal last summer.
Kamara can be considered as one of the best players in his position in the top tier of Scottish football and his dazzling performances have caught the eyes of Rangers chiefs. However, the Teddy Bears could face stiff competition from Swansea City and Celtic in pursuit of the Finnish midfield enforcer’s signature when the transfer window opens in the summer.
Some sources are claiming that Kamara could be available on a cut-price deal with Dundee looking for a fee in the region of £1m which the Gers could be more than willing to provide this summer. The Finland international has made 41 appearances for the Dees this season, notching up with 2 assists in all competitions. Dundee manager Neil McCann is eager to keep hold of this prized asset beyond this summer but may have to give him up, as they cannot financially compete with the Gers.
The Teddy Bears have a tally of 65 points in 34 league matches and find themselves in the 2nd position in the league table. Murty needs to bring in to make a few quality additions in the summer transfer window to help his side close the gap to Celtic in the coming years.
The acquisition of Kamara will undoubtedly bolster Murty’s midfield options ahead of the new campaign. Rangers have the likes of Greg Docherty, Sean Goss, Jordan Rossiter and Josh Windass vying for a place in the Gers’ first-team. The potential addition of Kamara will definitely improve their team and add more competition for places within Murty’s squad.
The Finnish midfielder is highly versatile and can operate in a number of different positions across the pitch. He primarily plays as a central midfielder but can also be deployed in the right-back position which makes him a perfect fit for the Teddy Bears. At 22, Kamara still has his peak years ahead of him which the Gers could look to capitalise on, in the coming years. Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of Kamara and whether he ends up making a switch to the Ibrox Stadium in the near future.
