Premier League has witnessed his stars having roller coaster career ride during their time here at English football and the saga of Joe Hart is a story of heartbreak from being league winners with Manchester City to a bench warmer at West Ham United. Hart had a glorious Premier League realm with the Citizens since joining them more than a decade back from the fourth tier Shrewsbury Town and eventually became their no. 1 for years to come. The Englishman was an integral part of City’s Premier League triumph ( both in 2011-12 and 2013-14) since the MiddleEast takeover and also registered himself as England’s main man between the sticks at a very young age.
Hart, despite being 30 only, has witnessed a massive downfall since Pep Guardiola’s introduction as Man City boss back in 2016 and the player saw himself losing his place to ex-Barcelona hotshot Claudio Bravo. The Chilean did not do particularly well between the sticks but Pep had no plans for Joe Hart who was loaned out to Serie A side Torino for the entire campaign. There he had some nervy occasions and eventually returned to Manchester after completion of the loan period. But City did move on from Joe Hart and Guardiola brought in young exciting Brazilian Ederson to protect the goal. Hart was once again made available for a loan move and there were plenty of English sides to approach for one of their very own for this campaign.
West Ham United won the race and the Englishman replaced Adrian as no. 1 under Slaven Bilic. But the Hammers’ dismal run resulted in the Croatian’s exit and he was succeeded by David Moyes as the new gaffer. Hart was not at his best once again and it did not take too long for Moyes to confine him in Cup commitments only as he brought back Adrian between the sticks for Premier League outings that paid off with some stunning outcomes of late.
The Englishman has reportedly given up on his Manchester City future and is considering a move to abroad once again once he completes his nightmarish loan run. His starting slot for the Three Lions in the upcoming World Cup has been jeopardized and the player’s career is decaying rapidly at a very young age for a goalkeeper. But as per Sky Bet, Chelsea have become a surprise favourite to land the England international. With Thibaut Courtois’ rumoured exit in summer, Chelsea might go for a new custodian and Hart might be handed in a fresh opportunity to resurrect his career at the very top level.
They, however, are not the only English side who are keen on acquiring the star keeper. Newcastle United, as well as, his current employers West Ham are also in the running as second and third favourites at 3/1 and 8/1 respectively compared to Chelsea’s 9/4 to land Hart on a permanent deal.
Crystal Palace are also in the queue but Selhurst is an unlikely destination as they have already wrapped up a deal for Getafe keeper Vicente Guaita. Newcastle United had seen a move blocked by David Moyes last month but found a solution in Martin Dúbravka. It is to be seen now where Joe Hart, surplus to Man City’s requirements, ends up next season.
