As per one of the latest reports by the Huddersfield Daily Examiner, Huddersfield Town are in the contention to sign Norwich City’s Alex Pritchard in the ongoing January transfer window. The Terriers have seen two of their bids for Pritchard getting rejected by the Canaries and is perceived that a third bid has been placed to acquire his services.
Under the tutelage of David Wagner, Huddersfield Town have fared decently in the Premier League after their promotion from the Championship last season. It has never been easy for the second division clubs to withstand the animosity that the top guns offer, but having said that, Wagner and his troops might not have been dazzling but their haven’t been wasteful either.
Huddersfield are placed at the 11th spot in the league table at the moment with 24 points from 22 games so far. However, they must be thoroughly desirous to beef up their arsenal to ensure that they have the requisite personnel to meet the demands of the second half of the season, considering that the utmost priority for them would certainly be to ensure their survival in the top tier beyond the ongoing season.
Their apparent interest to lure Pritchard to the Kirklees Stadium makes complete sense, for he is undoubtedly someone who has a lot of potential and calibre. Having emerged through the youth ranks of West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur, he was promoted to the senior side of the latter. However, he failed to cement his place in the side of the Lilywhites and was sent out on loan more often than not.
The 24-year-old possesses notable experience of English football, having plied his trade with the clubs such as Brentford and West Bromwich Albion during his loan spells. However, it was after his move to Norwich City in the summer of 2016 after which he started to get notable recognition from the football fraternity. He has scored 1 goal and has registered 2 assists in 8 Championship appearances so far this campaign.
He was out injured with an ankle injury and ever since his return in November, he has been the main playmaker under head coach, Daniel Farke. Pritchard is capable of playing on either wing as well as a no.10 and his abilities of crossing, passing the ball, creating chances and holding on to the ball are quite appealing.
Huddersfield Town are looking to add more spice to their attacking setup by the prospect of signing him, but it is expected to cost them a lot of money.
