Championship outfit, Leeds United, have been enduring a torrid time of late owing to their shambolic performances on the pitch. Despite starting the season with a lot of promises, the Whites have lost their last three games in the English second division and it goes without saying that their hopes of promotion to the promised land of Premier League seems to be in jeopardy at the moment. They are breaking apart and some sort of resurrection is the call of the hour.
Under the tutelage of Thomas Christiansen, the Yorkshire-based side managed to churn out some decent deals during the summer transfer window as the likes of Felix Wiedwald, Samuel Saiz and Ezgjan Alioski were lured to the Elland Road. Last season, Leeds United’s timorous run of form during the business end of the season was the reason for their failure to finish inside the top-six. However, Garry Monk did create the requisite pedestal to maraud forward in the right direction.
Christiansen has to chalk out some ramifications and should look forward to bring some more quality names so that the squad beefs up. With the January transfer window fast approaching, one of the players who should be on the radar of the Peacocks is Ryan Woods. Woods found the back of the net, whilst plying his trade for Brentford, against Leeds United last weekend as the Bees secured a 3-1 win at the Griffin Park and United’s fans are now expressing their interest towards him.
Woods is a central midfielder who emerged through the youth ranks of Walsall and Shrewsbury Town and was eventually promoted to the senior side of the latter. After proving his mettle with the senior side of the Shrews, the Englishman was acquired by Brentford and he has very nicely cemented his place in their side. He is someone who has showcased his excellent ability to read the game and immense work-ethic and has risen rapidly in stature in English football.
The 23-year-old dictates the tempo of the game, more often than not, from the middle of the park and knits his teammates meticulously with his passes. Besides, he is versatile enough to operate as a defender as well and shields the backline is a pretty resilient fashion.
Woods has accumulated adequate experience under his belt and although it would be tough for Leeds United to prise out one of the prized assets of Brentford, they should really attempt to sign him in the upcoming transfer window.
