Arsenal are not in the best of forms in the Premier League this season so far and are looking to turn things their way in the matches after the international break. The Gunners will be looking to make amends for their mistakes they have committed earlier and will hope for results to read in their favour.
The North Londoners have no dearth of talent in their ranks and are well equipped with a number of young players, who have a bright future ahead of them. One such player is the Englishman Calum Chambers, who has signed a new deal with the Gunners that will see him stay put at the Emirates Stadium till 2021.
The 22-year-old is one of the most highly regarded young players at the disposal of the North London club and has been a part of the team since 2014. He has made 60 appearances so far for the Gunners and is tipped to become a future star at Arsenal.
The player was sent on loan to Middlesbrough in the last term after their promotion to the top flight. He gave it his all to save the season for them but was not able to keep them in the first tier and returned to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Chambers predominantly prefer to play at the right back but has made appearances as a centre back as well as a defensive midfielder on a number of occasions. He started his career at Southampton and performed well for their senior as well as the youth team before moving to the North London club.
The 22-year-old right back is hailed for his ability to make darting runs down the right side and making pinpoint passes into the opposition half, helping his teammates to initiate the attack.
Apart from that, he also has the ability to get the ball into the box with his delightful crossing, setting up the forwards to score goals. His immense physicality is a plus to his swift footwork and he can also hold onto the ball for a significant amount of time.
The player is expected to contribute to his current club in the future and the Arsenal will be hopeful that the extension of his contract might help him gain confidence and earn a regular place in the lineup in the future. Given the kind of disarray that the Gunners are in at the moment, there might be a chance for the young right back to head into the starting eleven in the forthcoming days.
So extending Chamber’s contract is a good move by the Gunners?
