Chelsea have started their title defence in a mixed fashion, failing to secure a win in their very first match of the campaign. However, the Blues have finally got their season back on track with consecutive wins in their last two matches against Tottenham Hotspur and Everton and are looking to continue their winning streak in the forthcoming matches as well.
All the Chelsea players contributed in their team’s win in the last term, including exceptional performances from players like Eden Hazard and Diego Costa. Both of them played very important roles in the West London’s club triumph in the Premier League and were poised to do the same this season as well.
However, things took a bitter turn for the Spanish striker after the campaign was over, with the present man in charge at Stamford Bridge secretly telling him that he is not in his plans for the new season. This left the hot-headed striker fuming as he came out in public and talked about the “humiliation” that he had to face at Chelsea. He was determined to leave the club and rejoin his former outfit Atletico Madrid in Spain this summer to reshape his career away from England.
With the Spanish club not showing any interest in him so far, more shock came his way as he was named in the Champions League squad for this season a few days back. Though the player has returned to London for now, it looks unlikely that he will remain as a part of the team for a very long time.
Los Colchoneros are currently facing a transfer ban and were not able to buy or sell any player in the recently concluded transfer window. However, they might be back in the next transfer window, which opens in January.
Chelsea might also look to take advantage of the situation and let Costa move to his desired destination in a swap deal that might see them land one of the best forwards in the world at this moment in the form of Antoine Griezmann, which is guaranteed to be a huge boost for the Blues in their pursuit of European as well as domestic glory.
Griezmann, who is in immaculate form at the present moment, has also been poised to make a move to Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Manchester United in the winter. However, if the reigning Premier League champions can get the deal done, it will be a huge signing for them and it will also bring relief to Diego Costa, who is desperate to find a way to move out of Stamford Bridge. So this deal makes sense in more ways than one. But can Conte pull it off?
