Manchester United players are on cloud nine after their gallant win in the UEFA Europa League final over Dutch side Ajax, which has confirmed them a place into next season’s Champions League football despite finishing sixth in the Premier League this term.
Jose Mourinho, their new manager, might now look to start his preparation for revamping his squad for the next season by bringing in players who can be able to give his side a facelift in the next season when they vie with some of the best team in the world.
It has been undoubtedly a very hard season for the Red Devils, with a number of their players getting on the injured list for most of the season. However, they finally managed to end it on a high. Now that they are set for top flight football in the next season, it is going to be a busy summer for them in the transfer market, with the chance to land a number of top class players at Old Trafford, including the Everton star Ross Barkley.
Reportedly, the English midfielder has denied putting pen on paper for a new agreement with his current club over a standstill between the club and the player regarding a pay hike and might look to make a move to this season’s Premier League runner-ups Tottenham Hotspur. However, speculations are rife that the Red Devils might also be in the race to bag the Toffees star man for the next season.
Experts have also opined that in the current circumstances, it will be much more suitable for the English midfielder to make a move to Old Trafford, as he might get a chance to start matches for the Red Devils given the tumultuous situation their midfield has been throughout the current season. On the other hand, moving to Tottenham might not guarantee a first team place for the Englishman, with his compatriot Dele Alli and Eric Dier in fine form for the Spurs in the recently concluded season.
Reportedly, Manchester United have been looking to bag Barkley for £20 million during the summer transfer window. His arrival will definitely bring a world of solidity to the midfield of the Red Devils and will bolster their chances of getting results in their favour in the next season.
From the English international’s point of view as well, it will be a big opportunity for him to play in the European competition in the next season if he agrees to join Manchester United in the summer.
