Manchester United Linked With This Ligue 1 Sensation: Can Mourinho Actually Pull this Off?

Manchester United are looking into the transfer market in search of a new striker and with Zlatan’s future in doubt (with the player yet to sign a contract extension with the club) and the interest for Griezmann cooling down, Mourinho has turned his attention to young French sensation Kylian Mbappe.

Atletico Madrid are unwilling to sell their best player of the season especially when they are shifting to a new stadium. The delay in negotiations in landing this star striker has compelled Jose Mourinho to dig through all top striking options across the world, which includes the names of Tottenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane and young Monaco star Kylian Mbappe

Getting Kane will be as difficult as getting Greizmann. Spurs won’t sell their best player to a team who are also their direct rivals. Consequently, Mourinho has been forced to set his sight on one of the best young talents in the world of football in AS Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe, as per reports.

At only 18, the French international is touted by many as the next big player in France, some of them even comparing him with the legendary Thierry Henry. He has scored 12 goals and assisted eight times in 22 appearances for the Ligue 1 side so far. His brace against Dortmund in the first leg caught the eyes of many scouts with clubs surely coming after him when the transfer window reopens this summer.

Now, this move is possible with Manchester United ready to splash the cash. Manchester United have already done business with the French side previously (Anthony Martial for €50million). But Mbappe has achieved a lot in a short span of time and a world record move has to be given a lot of consideration this early. We have seen instances in the past where a player, especially a young player, crumbles under the weight of big transfer fee.

A centre-forward primarily, Monaco manager Leonardo Jardim has often used him used him on the flanks to utilise his pace and to which he hasn’t disappointed at all. Blistering pace blended with ice-cool finishing, a trait Mbappe possesses which could make him a Premier League great if nurtured properly. With a height reaching to 178cm, the youngster is quite capable of headed attempts, a quality that can be immensely used in English football.

However, Monaco believes that Mbappe’s age and talent could see him smash the transfer record when he secures a big move to Manchester United.
