According to reports, Liverpool are on the verge of signing England International Joe Hart for £20m who is currently on loan at Italian club Torino from Manchester City. Hart will end his season-long loan with Torino and most likely will join a new Premier League club this summer with rumours coming in that the player will leave City at the end of the season.
Joe Hart had been City’s No.1 before the arrival of Pep Guardiola and was one of the key figures in City’s title winning run in 2011/12 and 2013/14 season. But much to his surprise, Hart fell out of favour in City’s rank at the start of this season which eventually triggered his loan move to Torino late in the summer.
The England International has become a fan favourite at the Italian club and has impressed everyone with his performances this season. He has 32 appearances to his name for Torino and managed to keep six clean sheets which may not sound that convincing but it’s the effort he puts into games and also the spectacular saves he makes which have caught everyone’s eye.
Liverpool are facing a problem in their backline, especially in the goalkeeping position, a lot over the past two years now. Conceding cheap goals especially from the set pieces is a problem Jurgen Klopp’s side is having this season. Simon Mignolet, Liverpool’s first choice goalkeeper came under a lot of stick last season for his mistakes and silly errors in a number of games which have cost Liverpool a lot of points.
At the start of this season, Liverpool signed Loris Karius from Mainz in order to resurrect their goalkeeping situation. But after a bright start, the young goalie has lost his concentration and also his position to Mignolet in the first team. The Belgian International has picked up his form this season and has been instrumental in Liverpool’s current seven-match unbeaten run in the Premier League.
He made some crucial match-winning saves in their games against Stoke and West Brom recently which have given the whole squad a huge boost in their quest for a top 4 spot. If we compare these two players(Hart and Mignolet), it’s the England International who has made more saves than his Belgian counterpart and also has a better distribution accuracy but Hart has conceded more goals than Mignolet which could go against his favour.
Many reports claim that the Serie A club wants to keep the England international for another campaign, but they might not be able to afford him. Manchester City were initially been reluctant to allow Hart to join a Premier League rival, but their stance has been softened, which could pave his way to make a move to the Merseyside club.
