Following a 5:1 riot at the Allianz Arena, the mighty Bayern Munich will travel to the Emirates stadium to face Arsenal in the knockout stages of the Champions League. The English giants will seek retribution after an embarrassing defeat two weeks ago. Carlo Ancelotti however, will look to increase their advantage over the Gunners and make a statement for the rest of the teams.
Predicted 4-2-3-1 Bayern Munich Lineup To Finish Arsenal’s Hope In The Champions League
Goalkeeper: Manuel Neuer will guard the Bayern goal, in what might be a busy evening for the 30-year-old. Neuer was furious that he couldn’t keep a clean sheet last time out and he will be looking to change that this week.
Right Back: Philip Lahm will lead his side as his team only need a draw to qualify to the next round. Bayern Munich are in need of a calm head and Lahm provides just that!
Centre Back: Javi Martinez is currently the most inform defender in Bayern backline. The Spanish International scored a goal against Koln this weekend and will be full of confidence ahead of the big clash against Arsenal.
Centre Back: Mats Hummels will get back into the starting lineup after missing the game against Koln due to an illness. His craft and passing ability will be vital in Bayern Munich’s build-up from the back.
Left Back: Hummels’ return will pave the way for David Alaba to get back to his proffered left back position. It would be interesting to see the battle between two of Europe’s most promising fullbacks in Alaba and Bellerin.
Central Defensive Midfield: Xabi Alonso was rested for Tuesday’s encounter. His experience and a cool head will surely be a key point for Bayern Munich. His ability from long range can also be devastating at times. Made no mistake, the former Liverpool man needs to be at his best to perform against the likes of Xhaka and Ozil.
Central Defensive Midfield: Arturo Vidal will try to provide security for the backline alongside Xabi Alonso. Not only his defensive ability, though, Vidal’s tendency to join the attack at times can be disastrous for the opposition. In general, his hard-hitting style of play is a perfect antidote for the Arsenal midfield.
Right Wing: Arjen Robben was another player rested for the midweek fixture against Arsenal. The Dutchman has been one of the best attackers in the league this season after he came back from his injury. His individual qualities might cause a lot of trouble for Arsene Wenger’s side.
Central Attacking Midfield: Thiago Alcantara has been a wizard for Bayern Munich this season. Best player in the first leg, the former Barcelona man will once again use his magic to provide chances for the likes of Lewandowski and Robben.
Left Wing: After starting the season on a high note, Franck Ribery’s injury slowed down his progress but now he’s back and firing all cylinders once again. The Frenchman came on as a substitute for the injured Douglas Costa against Koln and scored a goal in the last minute to hand Bayern a comfortable 3:0 victory.
Forward: Robert Lewandowski, the Polish striker had a bit of a tough time against Koln, as he was completely marked out of the game. He will look to find more space in the middle to get back to his scoring groove. Lewandowski has been in fiery form lately and was the one scoring two goals in the first leg.
