Chelsea Linked With French Sensation: Why He’d Be A Brilliant Addition

Numerous reports have emerged indicating that Chelsea are plotting a huge bid for Celtic’s latest sensation Moussa Dembele. Dembele started at the Paris Saint-Germain youth academy before moving to English side Fulham. After Fulham got reduced to a Championship side, the French youngster decided to move to Scotland after a season where he impressed in the second tier of English football.

He has attracted attention from the top clubs of Europe, who are keeping very close watch on him. Among them are Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid. Zidane is reportedly a big admirer of the 20-year-old and has predicted his future to be at a top club. He has even likened him to Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry and Madrid officials are understood to have made progress to bring him to Spain.

Chelsea have to waive off competition from the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid if they are serious about landing the wonder kid. Dembele would be a valuable asset to any club. He price is currently quoted at 40 million pounds.

He has already scored 15 goals in all competitions, including two against Manchester City in their 3-3 Champions League draw and another four in two Old Firm games against Rangers.

The forward is known for his agility and strength on the ball and could be a very effective addition to a Premier Club. He prefers the central forward position and has already scored 7 goals and 1 assist for Celtic in his first season of the Scottish league.

Chelsea’s striking options are very limited by quality. The only good forward they have currently is Diego Costa, who is the top scorer in the Premier League at the moment. Apart from that Chelsea have brought in Michy Batshuayi and the Belgian is yet to adapt to the English playing style.

Dembele is also known for his dribbling and composure in front of goal and would definitely suit Chelsea’s style of play, who prefer playing a lone striker up front who gets most of the passes from the flanks as well as from the deep midfield. Dembele’s height also makes him a lethal weapon in the box from indirect free kicks, which Chelsea have been lacking this season.

However, bringing in Dembele could also be a tricky thing as Chelsea are infamous for their loan policy. They have loaned a number of players out to various clubs, who are have been playing well and but are still unsure of their future. Hence, Chelsea could be an unsafe option for a young player like Dembele, who decided to move to Celtic to continue his incredible developement.
